 Short Bio

I am Professor at the Institut Supérieur de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace (ISAE-SUPAERO), member of the Image and Signal Processing for NAVIgation, Radar and REmote Sensing (NAVIR²ES) Research Group, Toulouse, France, since 2019. In October 2021 I successfully defended the “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” in Signal Processing, titled “Robust Statistical Signal Processing for Dynamic Complex Systems : Locate, Track, Navigate and Sense”, from Toulouse INP.

I received the MS in Electrical Engineering from both Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain, and Grenoble Institute of Technology (INPG), Grenoble, France, in 2006. In October 2006, I joined GIPSA-Lab at the INPG as a Research Assistant with a French Ministry of Science PhD grant. My thesis, entitled “Nonlinear Dynamic Channel Estimation for Mobile Satellite Receivers”, focused on nonlinear Bayesian estimation methods and its applications to synchronisation problems for both communications and positioning systems. I received the PhD in Signal Processing from Grenoble INP in March 2010.

Following the standard research career path, I was a Postdoctoral Researcher in different research groups from 2010 to 2015 : Signal Processing and Communications group, UPC (2010-2012) ; Signal Processing for Communications and Navigation group, UAB (2012-2013) ; Statistical Inference for Communications and Positioning Department, CTTC (2014-2015). From May 2015 to December 2016, I was a freelance researcher (kind of sabbatical). Then, I joined again the CTTC, first as a Researcher (2017) and later appointed Senior Researcher (2018). Also, at that time I was a part-time lecturer at the Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering School (EETAC-UPC).

I worked during the last 10+ years in several aspects related to statistical signal processing, with special emphasis on statistical inference and adaptive/robust stochastic filtering. I have also been a key personnel in several projects funded by the European Commission (EC), the European Space Agency (ESA), the French and Spanish Ministry of Science, and lately involved in projects funded by the French DGA. My primary areas of interest include statistical signal processing at large, estimation and detection theory, nonlinear Bayesian inference, robust filtering, statistical learning, computational and robust statistics ; with applications to the broad field of localisation, tracking and navigation (GNSS, indoor, cooperative, robust, multiple object, multi-sensor data fusion), communications, intelligent transportation systems, air traffic management and Earth observation (GNSS remote sensing).
