Structural Elements Recognition

Mis à jour le

This paper aims at presenting the results of an investigation of a flow-inspired approach so-called moving node approach in topology optimization. In this approach, the discretization is decoupled from the material distribution. The effects of the discretization method, the optimizer, the volume fraction and the filter are studied. The moving node approach exhibits promising results and could be an alternative to the currently used topology optimization techniques, specially in structural elements recognition. In fact, here the paradigm has changed, new design variables are used such as nodes location and elements length. Numerous numerical experiments produce interesting results in the effect of hyper parameters of the topology optimization process. The final application is the structural element recognition on a well-known Cantilever beam problem.
